RD Wines Education includes a number of courses tailored to your individual requirements. We have WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) qualified, approved and trained staff who are willing to provide your employees with the knowledge and expertise to make your business distinctive and stand out. Whether you have bar staff, waiters, sommeliers or other key personnel we can make the difference.

We also offer individual courses for those that simply wish to attain the WSET level 1 and 2 qualification.

WSET LEVEL 1

A beginner level introduction to wine suitable for those starting a career in wine or pursuing an interest in wine.

For individuals new to wine study this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You'll explore the main types and styles of wine and gain the basic skills to describe wine accurately and make food and wine pairings. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

Course delivery: This qualification has a minimum requirement of six hours of study time, in a classroom, which involves both teaching and tasting. Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions.

Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

WSET LEVEL 2

This qualification is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts. It is intended for those wishing to learn about a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

You’ll gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

On successful completion of the examination you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

Course delivery: This course has a minimum requirement of 28 hours of study time – 16 hours of classroom time (involving both teaching and tasting), a minimum of 11 hours of personal revision time and a 1 hour exam - a closed-book examination comprised of 50 multiple-choice questions.

Entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification, although candidates will benefit from having studied WSET Level 1.
