Sixteen Ridges Pinot Noir Sparkling Rose 2013 75cl
Made by director/winemaker Simon Day who grew up on an English vineyard and has 25 years' experience making wine in England and abroad. Sixteen Ridges vineyard, planted in 2007 is an ancient ridge and furrow field (hence sixteen ridges). South facing and a natural amphitheatre shape, it enjoys perfect aspect with excellent shelter. The Pinot Noir and Seyval Blanc vines thrive in sandy loam soils over triassic red sandstone geology, consistently producing some of the best grapes in the UK.
Redbank Vineyard was established in 2012 by the passionate, knowledgeable and pioneering hand of growers Cilia & Tim. The vineyard stretches across the Ledbury Wall Hills, a perfect marriage of southerly aspect, good shelter and clay loam soil over Silurian Mudstone.
Documents from Herefordshire Cathedral detail in the 13th century that St. Thomas Cantilupe instructed the replanting of this Ledbury vineyard, on the south facing slopes of Wall Hills. Now replanted over 750 years on, it is testament to the history and heritage of the site as an exceptional spot for vines.
